#10-Shettihalli, Karnataka – The Drowning Church
Shettihalli Church, also known as the Submerged Church or the Floating Church is located in Karnataka, India. It was built by the French missionaries in the 1860s and also included an orphanage and a hospital. Later in 1960, the Church was abandoned after the construction of the Hemavati Dam and Reservoir. Since then, the Church submerges in water every year during monsoon and attracts a lot of tourists.

Kuldhara village in Jaisalmer in the state of Rajasthan, India was established around 13th century. It was once a prosperous village with the Paliwal Brahmins residing in it. However, suddenly it was abandoned in the early 19th century where the entire population just fled overnight. As the story goes, the village just consists of a few broken-down buildings and an old temple because the people left the village with a curse, forbidding any future settlements. Today it is considered as a haunted site and is developed as a tourist spot by the Rajasthan Government.

Kodinhi is a small village in Kerala, India which is known for the large number of twin births that are reported every year. As the village has more than 200 pairs of twins and two sets of triplets it is also called as the ‘Village of Twins’. One more interesting fact about it is that women from Kodinhi married outside the village have also experienced multiple births. Many researchers have failed to determine the exact cause behind this mystery. But some doctors believe it is because of the chemical makeup of water in the area.

The Vittala Temple in Hampi in the state of Karnataka, built in the 15th century is well-known for having 56 Musical Pillars which produce musical sounds when tapped gently. Thus the Pillars are also known as SaReGaMa Pillars. Each pillar produces different musical sounds. The reason behind these musical pillars is not yet confirmed but they still continue to amaze the visitors.

Bhangarh fort, built in the 17th century is a fort located in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is believed that the fort is haunted as there are many stories about the same. Some say once a Sadhu lived within the fort and he threatened that if there is any house taller than his inside the fort, he would destroy the fort town. It is also said that the place is home to the evil soul of a magician who was in love with the princess of Bhangarh. However, there is no evidence to prove any of these rumours, but people have reported a sense of uneasiness while entering the fort.

#4-Roopkund, Uttarakhand – The Skeleton Lake
Roopkund, also known as Mystery Lake is a high altitude glacial lake in the state of Uttarakhand, India. Every year with the ice melting in Roopkund, hundreds of human skeletons are seen floating. The skeletons were rediscovered by a forest ranger in 1942. According to the researchers, it is believed that the corpses are around 1200 years old. It is still a mystery as who were these people in such an inhospitable region. As the story goes, it is said that the skeletons are of King Jasdhawal of Kanauj, his pregnant wife and their soldiers who were heading to Nanda Devi Shrine on a pilgrimage. Although before reaching the destination they were caught in a hailstorm and couldn’t find any place to hide and thus ended up perishing near the lake.
#3-Jatinga, Assam – Where Birds Commit Suicide
Jatinga is a small village in the state of Assam, India which is well-known for a mysterious phenomenon happening here every year during the end of the monsoon months. Right after the sunset, hundreds of birds of various species commit suicide here. Initially, the tribal people held evil spirits in the sky responsible for this everyday happening event. As per the researchers, the cause behind this is the dense monsoon fog so when the dazed birds fly towards the village lights, they are hit with the bamboo poles and are killed or severely injured.

Lonar Lake, also called as Lonarcrateris situated in the Buldhana district of Maharashtra, India. It is believed to be the consequence of a meteorite impact that occurred between 35000-50000 years ago. Lake water is both saline and alkaline. It is one of the very few hyper-velocity craters on the planet. The source of the perennial springs feeding the lake and what lies at its dark bottom is still a mystery.
